The selection of the lead dog starts a very early stage – already when the dogs are pups. The musher keeps a close eye with the qualities of the individual pups throughout their upbringing. If a dog has the right temper, dominants in the hierarchy and ability to follow orders, the prospect will gradually be given more tasks when pulling the sledge. Until one day it will become the leader of the pack ….
